About Me
Shayna Sander, Registered Clinical Counsellor
I truly love the work I do. As a deep thinker and feeler, I bring a high level of sensitivity and empathy to my practice. Over the years, I’ve learned to embrace my unique, imperfect self—and that journey informs how I support others. I’m always integrating new insights into both my personal growth and clinical approach.

Becoming a parent continues to be transformative, humbling and eye-opening in ways I never anticipated. It has deepened my understanding of vulnerability, patience, and resilience.

I like to think I bring a sense of humor that catches people off guard in the best way, assertiveness when it’s needed, and above all, authenticity.

As the eldest child in a large family, I grew up surrounded by various ages and stages of development and became naturally curious about attachment and child development. In other words, I grew up in a chaotic environment and was a deeply feeling kid with a lot of responsibility and a need to figure everything out.
I focused my undergraduate education on developmental psychology, and family studies. As I pursued my education, I worked as a running coach and yoga teacher. I spent time training in India, exploring the yogic ways of life, learning about holistic and meditative practices. Here is where I began to understand the body's integral role in the process of healing.
In 2016 I pursued graduate training at Adler University which led to a career in clinical counselling with youth, adults, and couples.

I am so grateful to live on beautiful Squamish Nation territory with my husband and two sons who are 8 and 4. Like many of us in the Sea to Sky area, I spend my time outside, trail running, biking, and exploring our beautiful environment with my family (and also trying to escape them from time to time!).
